About

Welcome to my page. I am a mom, school teacher, crafty person and self-taught graphic designer. I love learning. I started this site to share what I have been learning about design.

My interest in design started when I was a teen. I wanted to learn to sew because it was hard for me to find clothes that fit right. I enrolled in a pattern making class and I never looked at clothes the same.

It's surprising how much understanding how clothes are shaped helped me understand math, engineering and how things work better. Understanding how things work and how to make them work gives me a sense of power that I love.

Later in life, I learned to knit and to understand written crochet patterns (I had learned to crochet as a child but could only follow diagram patterns). This expanded my interest in design. I started learning how to design knitting and crochet patterns and I was amazed as to how one can turn yarn into three-dimensional items that are useful, beautiful and unique.

A little more than a year ago I had my son. He is the light of my life. I love spending time with him and he with me. However, it's really hard to knit, crochet or sew with a baby on your lap so I had to let my creative juices flow another way.

I started learning about graphic design on my phone and iPad. When I get a chance with my lap free I spend some time on my computer. I use many apps and software and so far have managed to learn a lot without having to use Adobe products such as Photoshop or Illustrator. In this page I plan to share what I have learned about designing on the go, one handed, in the middle of the night and with free or inexpensive software.

My designs are available for purchase in apparel, mugs, notebooks and other stuff on Redbubble and Etsy.
